The Selection (The Selection, #1)The Selection by Kiera Cass

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Holy cats. I could NOT put this book down. Seriously I’ve been reading it the last few hours unable to tear myself away. I mean I barely tore myself away to put my son in the tub LOL. I got to the halfway point and seriously went on the library website and put book 2 on hold. This is serious friends! I’ve heard they are supposed to be making a tv show out of this and man I hope they do. I will probably be glued to the tv every week! Cross your fingers!

I am afraid to give away to much but the back of the book is free game so Our main Character is America and she gets selected (one of 35) to basically meet and date the Prince of her country. So she leaves her family and moves into the palace to compete with the 34 other girls. Its kind of like the bachelor. But not as slutty? lol

Anyway I super loved it. Can’t wait to get the next book. I plan on devouring it in one setting too. Definitely recommend!

The Essence (The Pledge, #2)The Essence by Kimberly Derting

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Let me start off by saying I’m a HUGE fan of Kimberly Derting and her work. I think she is brilliant! Ok I sound biased but she is seriously one of my favorite authors. I really enjoyed this book. I liked book 1 a lot better but I still liked this one too. I’m really liking Max and I know it sounds totally sappy but I hope him and Charlie get together and live happily ever after lol. It had been a while since I read the first book. I wish I would have had a copy of it so I could remind myself of things before I read this one. It was kind of like relearning everything lol. Anyway can’t wait for book 3!

Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun (Ghost Hunter Mystery, #3)Ghouls Just Haunt to Have Fun by Victoria Laurie

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

My crack series. At least this is what I call it. Like I’ve said before I don’t know why I get so sucked into these books. I just can’t stop reading them. I gotta know what happens! In this book MJ gets invited to do some readings for a show called Haunted Possessions. She is VERY leary about doing it. Because she doesn’t want to exploit her talent. Her and fellow psychic Heath have to sharpen their skills when one of the objects, a knife, turns out to be a portal that releases a nasty demon in a haunted hotel that she is staying in. So her and her team have to find a way to get rid of the demon before it carves the hotels guests like a knife through butter. Great series. Great book. Can’t wait for the next!

A Shade of Blood (A Shade of Vampire, #2)A Shade of Blood by Bella Forrest

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’ll admit at the beginning I had a bit of a slow start only getting to read a page or two here and there. So it took me a few days longer to finish this one then it should have. I’m pretty much obsessed with these characters. And there were two things revealed that I was NOT expecting and literally went OMG. What the crap! My husband officially thinks I’m nuts. But hey I’m ok with that. I wasn’t sure how this was going to play out but I really like the way it did. I am surprised at how long it took Sofia to come back. I thought for sure it would have been sooner. And I’m sorry but Ben is kind of a douche. I love love love Derek! Do I recommend this series? Yes! Especially if you are into vampires. I can’t wait to read book 3!

Here is a summary: Having been delighted by the Christmas best-selling debut, A Shade Of Vampire, readers are begging for more.

In A Shade Of Blood, Bella Forrest transports you deeper into a unique, enthralling and beautifully sensitive story.
Prepare to be lost in its pages…

When Sofia Claremont was kidnapped to a sunless island, uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet, she believed she’d forever be a captive of its dark ruler, Derek Novak.

Now, after months of surviving an endless night, the morning sun may soon rise again for Sofia. Something has possessed Derek’s heart and he offers her a gift no human slave has ever been given in the history of his cursed island: escape.

High school, prom and a chance to move on with her life now await her.

But will she be able to forget the horrors that steal her sleep away at night? … and the feelings that haunt her for that tormented prince of darkness?

A Shade of Vampire (A Shade of Vampire, #1)A Shade of Vampire by Bella Forrest

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don’t review a lot of books as 5 stars. Just because I don’t. For me a 5 star book is one I don’t want to put down. This book was one of those for me. I started it that afternoon but had to stop to get my son from school etc. I wasn’t able to pick it back up till evening time after he went to bed. I stayed up later then normal to finish it. Because I literally couldn’t stop! There aren’t many books that leave me wanting more of the story. I realize this must be the first part of the book so Bella when is Part two coming out and I can review it too? lol. Anyways I found this to be a great start of the book. I seriously can’t wait to get my hands on part two. I don’t have anything else to really say and I’m not giving anything away.

Here is a summary:
On the evening of Sofia Claremont’s seventeenth birthday, she is sucked into a nightmare from which she cannot wake.

A quiet evening walk along a beach brings her face to face with a dangerous pale creature that craves much more than her blood.

She is kidnapped to an island where the sun is eternally forbidden to shine.
An island uncharted by any map and ruled by the most powerful vampire coven on the planet. She wakes here as a slave, a captive in chains.

Sofia’s life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn when she is the one selected out of hundreds of girls to join the harem of Derek Novak, the dark royal Prince.

Despite his addiction to power and obsessive thirst for her blood, Sofia soon realizes that the safest place on the island is within his quarters, and she must do all within her power to win him over if she is to survive even one more night.

Will she succeed? …or is she destined to the same fate that all other girls have met at the hands of the Novaks?

Shadows of the Heart (Shadows in the Dark, #1-4)Shadows of the Heart by L.D. Hutchinson

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a short story about a girl named Avangeline who is powerful witch but doesn’t know the extent of her power. She has heard mention of things but never much took them to heart until she is told she is to be the Queen of the Vampires. Rogue Vampires want her dead and before you know it she’s on the run for her life. She goes into hiding with Phoenix (her protector) and starts training.Basically their hideout gets leaked and they start running. Avangeline gets hurt badly and is turned into a vampire before they feel like she is ready. Then a plot twist is thrown in and you meet her old friend Blaine and find out someone is a traitor. It’s someone she trusts and is sort of in love with.

This book was a wild ride. One minute you are thinking one thing then BAM something is thrown at you and you are like SAY WHAT!? I liked this book. It was short yes and it ended kind of abruptly. But I believe more books are on the way so hopefully everything gets answered. I think L D Hutchinson has a lot of talent and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with.

Forsaken (The Ice Moon, #2)Forsaken by Kristy Quinn

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Book 2 in the Ice Moon Series. This one starts off where the last one leaves off. What I like most about this book is that its a different take on Vampires and Werewolves. Its not your everyday run of the mill stuff. The author has added a few things and kind of made it different. The main character is Haden and she is the Chosen One. Another prophecy is read and it is said that Taylor (her fiance) is also a chosen one. He too has a birthmark. In the first book Haden and Taylor got engaged. So in this book they got married, had the wedding and honeymoon. It was actually kind of nice NOT to hear about all the details of their wedding night. It was a more PG13 approach and I appreciate that. Shortly after their wedding Haden is feeling sick and lo and behold she’s pregnant. I read another review so I knew this was going to happen. My biggest complaint was that it seemed like every other paragraph was Haden talking about “being pregnant” etc. By the end of the book I was like “has she had that darn baby yet?” lol. The end of the book did leave me saying WHAT!? Now I have to wait to find out what happens until the author releases the next book. I am looking forward to finding out what happens. I do like the series though. I think it has a lot of promise and for the author not having written before I think she did a great job with this series. So Kristy if you need me to review book 3 let me know I will gladly! hahaha.

One thing I want to mention is that we finally meet the ever famous Sebastion in this book. He is Gavin’s brother. If you don’t know what I’m talking about I suggest you get book one and read it!

Ice MoonIce Moon by Kristy Quinn

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

At the beginning of this book I wasn’t sure it was going to be my kind of thing. The more I kept reading it the more interesting it got. Haden is special and her parents have told her she has a rare disease where she has to drink animal blood to survive. She has a place hidden in her closet where she keeps her supplies. Nobody knows about this rare disease she has so its kept a secret from everyone.

She starts having serious feelings for her Brother Taylor (this is where it gets weird at the begininning!) and starts questioning if they are even related. They don’t look a like etc. Taylor has obvious feelings for Haden as well. And of course they have to keep them secret because they are supposedly brother and sister.

So much seems to happen in this book. Most people can gather from reading what I wrote above that Haden is probably a vampire. She is. And she doesn’t know it. The big kicker for me is she is a Jesus believing Vampire. I didn’t know those existed! So that was kind of cool to read. This is a totally different book for sure. You have vampires/ werewolves and an interesting mixture of the two that is sure to have you raising your eyebrows and say WHAT THE FRENCH TOAST!

A lot happens in this book A LOT. Its hard to review it without giving HUGE things away. So I really enjoyed it. And am looking forward to reading book 2.

The Morganville Vampires, Volume 1 (The Morganville Vampires, #1-2)The Morganville Vampires, Volume 1 by Rachel Caine

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finished tonight. I found the first book to be slow. It took me awhile to really get into it. The 2nd book was much better. Though and I liked it a lot more .

I like how different it is compared to twilight. In this book vampires are cold blooded and heartless. Unforgiving and cruel. Claire moves to this town to start college unaware of what she is moving into. A town run by vampires. Bullies force her out of the dorms and into The Glass House. She has 3 new roommates, Eve, Shane and Michael. Michael has a big secret. Eve is Goth and Shane has issues.

By the end of the 2nd book I was routing for Shane and Claire and Eve and Michael hoping that everything will in the end work out for them. Definitely good for a fast read or if you are bored on an airplane.

The Hollow (The Hollow, #1)The Hollow by Jessica Verday

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have been eyeing this book for sometime. Something about the front cover and the name “The Hollow” called out to me. So I put a hold on it at my local library and when I got the email that it was ready to pick up I was super excited. It took me a while to get through this book. Not because I didn’t like it but I started reading this book right after I finished another series and I was still reeling from the ending. Had I not just read that series I would have read this one much faster.

Abby has just lost her best friend Kristen. And she finds out Kristin is keeping a huge secret from her. She meets Caspian at Kristen’s funeral and is instantly drawn to him. She is still reeling from the loss of her best friend but is excited to see if this relationship is going to go anywhere. They live in the town of Sleepy Hollow where the book “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” is based.

My opinion is it is a pretty good book and the ending left me saying WHAT THE FRENCH TOAST. Of course I saw a spoiler on here somewhere and it kind of ruined it for me so I kind of knew what was going to happen. I think there must be more books in the work because they way the author ended it a lot is un-answered and I’m left wondering what is Abbey going to do with all this new found information she has received and will what really happened to her best friend be solved?

Here is a summary of the book.
When Abbey’s best friend, Kristen, vanishes at the bridge near Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, everyone else is all too quick to accept that Kristen is dead…and rumors fly that her death was no accident. Abbey goes through the motions of mourning her best friend, but privately, she refuses to believe that Kristen is really gone. Then she meets Caspian, the gorgeous and mysterious boy who shows up out of nowhere at Kristen’s funeral and keeps reappearing in Abbey’s life. Caspian clearly has secrets of his own, but he’s the only person who makes Abbey feel normal again…but also special.

Just when Abbey starts to feel that she might survive all this, she learns a secret that makes her question everything she thought she knew about her best friend. How could Kristen have kept silent about so much? And could this secret have led to her death? As Abbey struggles to understand Kristen’s betrayal, she uncovers a frightening truth that nearly unravels her – one that will challenge her emerging love for Caspian, as well as her own sanity.

The Haunted (The Hollow, #2)The Haunted by Jessica Verday

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

So much better then book 1. So much better!!

DEFINITELY a cliffhanger at the end. It ended and I went WTF. Seriously. IMO this one was 100 times better then the 1st one. It starts off where book 1 ends so there isn’t a huge gap in time. I also liked how we got to know the characters a little better. And Caspian is adorable. I know I know. Adorable is for like 5 year olds and Caspian obviously isn’t 5. I am also glad to know who “D” is.

The Coven (Wicca, #2)The Coven by Cate Tiernan

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I REALLY REALLY like this series. This is book 2. I really like the way Cate Tiernan writes. I find her very easy to follow and the books just flow along nicely. The main character Morgan I just feel for the girl. She is so powerful and doesn’t even know the extent of her power yet. And to lose her best friend over Cal. I will say the Bree is a mean wench in this book. The ending left me wondering what is going to happen. Not going to give spoilers to those who haven’t read it but you are going to be left with a WTF. Just sayin.

If you like Witch books check these out. They are short and easy to read. Nice if you don’t have a lot of time to spend reading a book. These can easily be read in an afternoon.

Here is a summary:
Cal, now Morgan?s boyfriend, helps her accept the truth: Wicca is in Morgan?s blood. As Morgan learns more about Wicca, she realizes that she needs to find out more about her parentage. The answers are there, but she doesn?t know how to find them.
